I am a credentialed teacher with a master's in Reading Instruction. For more than 35 years, I have dedicated my life to education, teaching a wide range of subjects in the regular education classroom from kindergarten through 6th grade. As a Reading Specialist, Intervention Teacher, After-school Tutor, and Gifted & Talented Coach, I have developed a line of tried-and-true products that make learning meaningful, captivating, and OCEANS of FUN.​

Creating innovative educational activities that help students achieve a deeper understanding, greater engagement, and personal empowerment has always been my passion. My teaching style begins with the belief in equality; every student gets what they need to succeed. The next step is empowerment, providing students with a safe learning environment, "just right" materials, and the tools required to direct their learning. Finally, I love designing enthralling, rigorous, student-centered explorations that utilize higher-order cognitive thinking skills, focusing on understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating, and creating.

I founded Literacy LAGOON to share my knowledge and experience, guiding parents, educators, homeschoolers, and tutors through every aspect of teaching letters & sounds, word families, blends, long vowels, digraphs & trigraphs, reading prosody, and enhanced comprehension.
